Everyone knows how wonderful avocados are. They don’t call it a superfood for nothing. On the other hand, a pile of guacamole on your meat and cheese laced nachos, of a few slices of same on your store-bought sub defeats the purpose of this multifaceted fruit (yes, it’s classified as one). Yet few of us are going to simply sit down with a whole berry and dig in. While basic is always best, the avocado is a great vehicle for various culinary permutations. It can even be considered a work of art, as food blogger Colette Dike demonstrates. Her creations are the stuff of galleries as well as galleys.
One minor caveat – avocados are heavy on the fat and calorie side of things. A whole one can easily set you back 250 calories, with about 2.5 grams of saturated fat. Now it also has tons of health benefits, but just remember to not go overboard when it comes to your latest creamy green creation. Still, as a substitute for bread or some other basic carb, it’s a whole lot better for you. So be creative like Colette and come up with your own delectable avocado recipe and designs. Your body – and taste buds – will thank you.
