Brave Mom Burned In Horrific Accident Stays Strong After Husband Dumps Her And She’s Left Homeless

What started out as a fun camping trip ended in a tragic accident that would leave a Georgia mom of one, Courtney Cosper Waldon, horribly disfigured and eventually homeless. And in her deepest time of need, her husband abandoned her after over 40 percent of her body was burned.

Courtney suffered third-degree burns after gasoline dumped on a campfire exploded. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was put into a medically-induced coma for a month and spent 51 days in the burn ICU.

The newlywed was dumped by her husband of just two months two weeks after she woke up from a coma. Concern for five-year-old daughter Caroline broke her heart but it was her love for her girl that kept her going.

Permanently disabled and unable to work, Courtney would end up losing her home. She also had to relearn how to do everything – walk, stand, hold things comfortable with her hands. Although she’s already had several laser surgeries and skin grafts, she still has a long way to go on the road to recovery.

A GoFundMe account has been started to help Courtney and her daughter build a home on her parents property so they can have a fresh start. Despite everything this brave mom has been through, she’s never given up.

“Every day I get more hopeful, I’m here for a reason,” she said to The Daily Mail. “I am hopeful in the future, I hope to help others who have been burned.”
