Rocking your little one to sleep can be one of the greatest joys experienced by parents and grandparents alike. But putting a sleeping baby safely into its crib without waking it up is one of the biggest challenges caregivers face.
Once the little one has drifted off into a sweet slumber, it’s up to you to be as quiet as a mouse so you can transfer that little bundle of joy into their cozy crib. One false move, though, and baby could wake up crying and restless. Then you have to start all over again.
But when you’re vertically challenged like grandmother Valerie Routh Sharp, 61, of Huntsville, Alabama, things can get a whole lot complicated. While putting her sleeping granddaughter to bed one night, she did what she always did and used a special step to ease her into her crib.
But five-foot-tall Valerie didn’t expect to take a tumble into the crib along with her granddaughter, Lola that night. Luckily, grandma and baby are just fine and no one was hurt.
She casually mentioned the incident to daughter Nikki Sharp Bishop, who thought it would be fun to see it before Lola’s first birthday that weekend. But when her husband sent it to her at work, she wasn’t prepared to burst out laughing.
After posting the video to Facebook, Nikki prefaced it with this comment:
“My mom is going to kill me but I had to post. For those of you who don’t know my mom she is 5ft and has always been vertically challenged. I love this crazy woman!”
Her mom took it all in good stride with Nikki telling the Huffington Post that her mom said: “So many people have seen my butt in the air.”
And the rest is viral video history!
